About Susan Runyon
Susan attended Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, where one January she participated in an intersession course on darkroom photography. Susan began taking photographs all over campus and soon became the photography editor for both the school newspaper and yearbook. She also worked for the Sports Information office, photographing the university's sports events.
After graduating, Susan worked as a computer programmer for The Prudential Insurance Company in New Jersey, and made frequent trips to the Adirondacks to visit her future husband. It was in the Adirondacks that she fell in love with nature photography.
After marrying in 1989, Susan and Ben lived and worked at North Country School and Camp Treetops in Lake Placid, New York. Susan taught math, computers, and photography for NCS. In the summers, she helped lead Treetops backpacking trips in Utah, Wyoming and Washington. She also contributed her photographic talents to the admissions and advancement offices, and her work was published in many of the school and camp publications and later on their websites.
Susan's work has also been exhibited at the LPCA Main Street Gallery Store (Lake Placid), Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (Plattsburgh), Visitors Interpretive Center (Paul Smith's College), View gallery (Old Forge), Cape Air Office (Saranac Lake), East Branch Friends of the Arts PhotoSho (Keene Valley), Adirondack History Museum (Elizabethtown), and University of Vermont Health Network Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
